If your network connection is fully functional, the easiest way to install McAfee VirusScan is by installing the McAfee agent. This agent will automatically download the latest version of VirusScan and install and configure it with the correct options. If you have been blocked from the network or you feel this option is not the best for you, for any reason, read the article about manual installation of the McAfee products.

In february 2009, VUBnet started deploying the new wireless infrastructure, which expands the existing Urbizone network, and completely replaces the old indoors wireless infrastructure. In many public indoors locations - amongst which the library, the CSB and the various "Student Cafés" - you will find two separate wireless networks: Urbizone and VUBnet. Early 2010 this got expanded by a third wireless network: Eduroam.

Every virus infection is different, and so there is no catch-all-fix-all solution or tutorial. All we can do is give you some general rules of thumb to do a full system scan with optimal chances of removing viruses and other malware.
We have added some "image" links which will show a screenshot illustrating the current point. Clicking the same link will hide them again.
Start by making sure your have the McAfee suite installed, be it by the automatic installation or the manual installation.

In this case, please read the article about automatic installation of McAfee Antivirus. Should you prefer not to do so, or should you be unable to do so, either because your network connection has been disabled or because you fear your computer is infected with a virus, then download all McAfee components on a networked computer and copy them to your machine by using a USB memory stick. Then proceed with a manual installation.

All requests should be in writing, using the 'Interne Betalingsopdrachten' of the VUB. You can send these by internal mail to the 'VUBnet Secretary'. If you have no internal VUB account, please contact the Secretary at 02/650.37.11.
To connect your computer to the network of the Vrije Universiteit Brussel, you will need an IP address and a free network connection in your office. You can request both of these using the same application form.
